- 1.0 Introduction

- This diskette contains the latest ATI Windows 95 mach64 enhanced
- display driver. This driver should be used if you experience any
- difficulties with the driver provided on the Microsoft Windows 95 CDROM
- or if you wish to access the new features provided by this driver.

- 2.0 Installation Notes
-
- 1. Ensure that you have a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE, v1.10 or later. PKUNZIP
- is available on most BBS and information services, including the ATI
- BBS and CompuServe.
-
- 2. Start Windows 95.
-
- 3. Start an MS DOS prompt.
-
- 4. Unzip 64W95101.ZIP into a temporary directory on your hard disk.
- For example:
-
- MD \ATITEMP
- PKUNZIP 64W95101.ZIP \ATITEMP
-
- 5. Exit the MS DOS prompt, and return to the Windows 95 desktop.
-
- The Windows 95 mach64 enhanced display driver is a Windows 95 mini
- driver. It is installed and configured using the standard Windows 95
- configuration utilities.
-
- 6. Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop and
- select the Properties entry of the menu.
-
- 7. Select the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet.
-
- 8. Click the Change Display Type... button.
-
- 9. In the Adapter Type area, click the Change... button.
-
- 10. The Select Device Dialog box will appear. Click the Have Disk...
- button.
-
- 11. Specify the source drive,(e.g. C:\ATITEMP) and click OK. Highlight
- the macxw4 entry and click OK to copy the driver to your hard disk.

- 12. If you have not already configured your monitor type do so now. In
- the Monitor Type area, click the Change... button and select the
- appropriate monitor. Click OK to apply your changes.

- 13. Click Close to return to the Settings page. Click "Close" or
- "Apply" to initiate your changes.

- 14. Restart the computer to run Windows 95 using this new driver.
-
- 15. Once the driver has been installed, you can delete the contents of
- the temporary directory (DEL \ATITEMP\*.*) and delete the directory
- itself (RD \ATITEMP).

- 16. We recommend that you keep a copy of the ZIP file, 64W95101.ZIP, in
- case you need to install the driver again.

- 3.0 Changing Color Depth, Resolution and/or Font Sizes
-
- When Windows 95 is up, you may configure your color depth, resolution
- and/or font size in the Display Properties sheet as follows.
-
- 1. Click the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop
- and select Properties.
-
- 2. On the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet, choose your
- preferred color support, resolutions and font size. Click "OK" or
- "Apply" to initiate your changes.
-
- 3. On the Adjustment Page of the Display Properties sheet, you may
- further customize your display.
-
- Note that these values reflect the monitor configuration you performed
- using the Settings page - Change Display Type - Monitor Type.

- 4. Click Apply or OK to switch to the new setting.
-
- Note: Windows 95 will require a re-start to implement certain display
- settings changes.

- 4.0 mach64 Enhanced Windows 95 Driver Features

- The Windows 95 mach64 Enhanced Features enhanced display driver
- supports the following additional features:
-
- - The ATI Adjustment page is added to the Display Properties sheet to
- provide monitor setup and adjustment. Use this page to adjust your
- monitors refresh rate and adjust your screen size and position.

- 1. To invoke the ATI Adjustment page click the right mouse button
- in an empty area of the desktop.
-
- 2. Select the Properties entry.
-
- 3. Select the ATI Adjustment tab.
-

- - The ATI Adapter Settings page is added to the Adapter Properties
- sheet to provide low level hardware configuration.
-
- 1. To invoke the ATI Adapter Settings page activate the System
- applet in the Control Panel.
-
- 2. Select the Device Manager tab.
-
- 3. Double-click the Display adapters item in the list.
-
- 4. Double-click the ATI adapter entry.
-
- 5. Select the Settings tab.
